The annual Share the Harvest charity harvest takes place next Saturday, Sept. 30, weather permitting of course.

The Canadian Foodgrains Bank event takes place east of Gibbons that day, starting at noon. Local farmers gather to harvest 267 acres of wheat on Suncor donated land at the junction of Highway 643 and Highway 825.

A dozen combines are expected at the harvest, which takes place immediately following a complimentary barbecue.

The Canadian Foodgrains Bank is a partnership of 15 Canadian churches working to end global hunger. The local Share the Harvest group has raised more than $1.25 million this way over 21 years.
