The Santa Claus parade will be a little later this year.

The annual downtown event takes place on Friday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. rather than the usual Saturday morning time.

Holding the parade in the evening gives the downtown and the parade participants a chance to shine, the Chamber of Commerce committee responsible for the parade has decided.

Registration is free and now open. Contact the Fort Saskatchewan & District Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber's other annual Christmas event, its Christmas Marketplace, also takes place at a different time this year. The market will be a week earlier than usual, on Nov. 16 and 17. Catch it at the Dow Centennial Centre from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. both days.

Lights Up is still happening as usual on the last Friday in November at City Hall.
