Legion ready for Poppy campaign
Legion volunteers are busy getting ready for the 2024 Poppy Fund campaign.
Poppies have been assembled and sorted, ready for distribution on Oct. 25, and wreaths prepared for sale.
Fort Saskatchewan's Royal Canadian Legion Branch 27 is responsible for the campaign in Sherwood Park, Ardrossan, Bruderheim and Lamont, notes Poppy Campaign Chair Kayla Hrehorets.
The Poppy Fund is an important service to local veterans, she adds. Monies collected here stay here in a protected fund used to help veterans with needs, especially in an emergency. The fund has been used to buy scooters and other medical equipment, and to help both Valour Place and the Kipnes Centre for Veterans.
Businesses and families interested in purchasing a wreath can contact the local legion at 780-998-3466.
