Fort man charged with kidnapping
A Fort man is one of four people charged in connection with a kidnapping that took place in Edmonton last week.
RCMP say a woman was forced into a vehicle driven by an adult male shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5. Three other adults were also in the vehicle at the time.
The Fort Saskatchewan detachment responded after being alerted to the matter. They say the victim was able to discreetly send text messages to a third party who then contacted police.
Fort Saskatchewan RCMP tracked the suspect vehicle to a residence in Vermillion and called in help from Eastern Alberta District General Investigative Services, Lloydminster GIS, Alberta RCMP Police Dog Service, Alberta RCMP Traffic Services and several surrounding detachments.
Police successfully released the victim unharmed and arrested four adults.
A machete was located inside the suspect vehicle.
Fort resident, Wyatt Darryl Fiddler, age 39, Edmonton resident Guy Edward Delorme, age 34, Valleyview resident Kaylee Sunshine, age 24, and Edmonton resident Cameron Gia Lawrence, age 21, have all been charged with kidnapping with a firearm, forcible confinement and administering a noxious substance.
Fiddler, Delorme and Lawrence have also been charged with failing to comply with a release order. These three also remain in custody. All four are set to appear in court on Sept. 12.
