RCMP member charged with assault
Assault charges have been laid against a Fort Saskatchewan RCMP member.
Officials announced this week that Constable Justin Forster has been charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm in connection with an incident on March 14, 2024.
Forster allegedly struck a suicidal prisoner shortly after that person was arrested under the mental health act.
RCMP note that the prisoner was taken to hospital for assessment and treatment.
The investigation took almost a year.
On May 2, 2024, the victim lodged a complaint with the RCMP. The resulting investigation was completed, and charges laid on Feb. 25, 2025.
Constable Forester has been placed on administrative duties. He is set to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Saskatchewan on April 3.
