Six candidates on join federal race
Six candidates will be on the ballot when Fort residents vote in the federal election on April 28.
Green Party candidate Randall Emmons joined the race for the Sherwood Park-Fort Saskatchewan seat this week.
Nominations are now closed. Candidates had until Monday, April 7, to submit their nomination papers.
Five other candidates are confirmed for the local riding:
Garnett Genuis, Conservative, incumbent Member of Parliament looking for fourth term.
Tanya Holm, Liberal, home builder out of Sherwood Park. past director of Strathcona Shelter Society and parent council member at Strathcona Christian Academy.
Mark Horseman, Canadian Futures Party, a "Data Evangelist" formerly with NAIT.
Chris Jones, NDP, Pipefitter, plumber and steelworker living in Sherwood Park and working in Fort Sask.
Jay Sobel, Peoples Party, a Toronto-based Chartered Industrial Designer.
Advance polls take place next week. Fort residents can vote at St. André Bessette Catholic School on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, April 18, 19, 20 and 21, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. each day.
It appears there will be only one local all-candidates forum for this election.
The Fort Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with Sherwood Park to host a joint election forum in Sherwood Park on Tuesday, April 15, at the Agora centre at 401 Festival Place, next to the library.
